My Approach

counselling chambers manchester stones.jpg

Reaching out for counselling is never easy.  It usually comes at a time when we are struggling and feel isolated from others, for fear of being judged or misunderstood.  My approach is relaxed, warm and friendly and I work with care and compassion.  I offer a space where you can be yourself and where you will be heard and understood.

As a trained person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist, I have a belief that you are the best expert on yourself.  I will not try to analyse you or offer advice, but work alongside you, seeing the world and your life as you do, from your perspective. Together we will work through the things that are troubling you, no matter how big or small, at a pace that is comfortable for you.  I will ensure that your emotions, thoughts, beliefs and experiences are acknowledged and accepted, unconditionally.

Person-centred counselling can help you gain a better understanding of yourself and uncover useful insights, previously hidden from your awareness.  These can improve the quality of your life and your relationships.  My aim is to assist you in your journey of personal growth and to help you develop self-compassion and acceptance, for who you are in the world.

Sessions

It is important that you feel comfortable working with me, so I recommend you book a first session, before you commit to further ones. This session is free of charge and will help you decide whether you wish to continue.

Further sessions can be booked individually, or you might want to take advantage of block bookings, which have a lower rate.

As is standard therapeutic practice, sessions are 50 minutes in length and usually weekly.  The initial session is 40 minutes.

What next?

Should you be interested in booking a first session or if you would like to know more, or discuss whether counselling is right for you, please contact me.
